To buy or not to Buy BF4 on release date?

5 replies 401 views Edited Apr 12, 2013

I've just figured out how much money i put into the newer battlefield games.. at the release dates.. Heres the math well a good round of math. Just follow you and you will understand.

BFBC  60 at release.

Bought 3 map packs which were 15 a Piece. so thats 45

online started not to work so i had to Purchase a Online pass "Said mine was not valid after 10 months" so thats 10 more dollars.

Special Weapons Packs 5 a piece so i got 5 of those. 25 so that adds up to 105  So i spent $175.00 on BFBC "ALONE"

"A YEAR LATER EA RELEASES BFBC BUNDLE for $40.00 With EVERYTHING!"

BFBC 2

With everything i bought including the Vietnam Pack

Totals out to an extra $125.00

"8 MONTHS LATER EA RELEASES A BUNDLE THAT ONLY COSTS $50.00 With Everything"

I'm At $300.00 when i couldve spent just $90.00

So That Puts me well over the EA Budget for purchasing anything.

So Battlefield 3 comes out... Of course im jumping on the release cause it looks sweet!

I purchase my copy for "$65.00"  =  $365.00

So they bring out these map packs and im like cool ill grab these "$30.00" for 2 of them" $395.00

Buy a few shortcut packs cause i dont play co-op mode to get special weapons. "$15.00" - $410.00

then finally my account starts working through the bf servers and they're offering premium edition for $50.00 with everything.

So i was like sweet maybe it'll make the game more intense.

"November 30th 2012 -  January 1st 2013 Websites and retail stores offer Bf3 Premium Edition for $30.00"

So after i see that im heated knowing how much i forked out on the Stupid BF Series.. And the worst part is EA are shutting down servers left and right. Am i going to get to enjoy my 460.00 of BF within 2 years.. i dont think so. are the going to re-imburse us for all of the $$ we put into a title for them to cut everything by 75% and put it on the market.. i dont think so.

"3 Battlefield Titles Cost me $460.00"   ---   THINK SMART PEOPLE!

Battlefield 4 might have the looks and Glamour and Ownage of the last ones, but i am not buying it for a year.

For the simple fact after the first 12 months of the release they will release a Special Cool Edition for 20 dollars cheaper and it will have everything people put about $120.00 into.

Thanks!    - Infektidlogik

I think a lot of people are going to wait after the joke that BF3 turned into.

I only spent:
BC2
$60 Day one +$15 Onslaught +$15 Vietnam + $6 Specact bundle = $96 for all the content in the game.

For BF3, you could have spent, $60 +$50 Premium = $110 for all the content.

The price you paid for everything else is your loss as you could have gotten it for free by spending an hour or two at the most.

As to the question, am I going to buy day one? I haven't decided yet. I'm waiting to see if the game will be a true Battlefield or continue to be dumb down.

ya, DO NOT get BF4 at release, unless you have more money than brains.

So you're complaining about spending money on content for video games? Well then, you're in the wrong market. Not to mention your points are completely stupid. Yes, after a year, they release BF3 Premium Edition. That's 11 months after BF3's initial release. It makes complete sense and was expected. What exactly did you pay for BF:BC? BC1 had no paid DLC and no online pass.

If you choose to wait a year before buying BF4 just to save a little cash, go ahead. Or use your brain and say, "Hey, I'm getting hundreds of hours of content for a little over $100." Compare that to a $12 movie ticket. Just buy the **bleep** game.

wait a year. Im willing to bet the difference in multiplayer wont be different enough from BF3 to really make me want to buy it. I will be waiting for the good editon they release after they bleed everyone who is willing to shell out over $100 for a $40 game.
