Re: PS4 Won't Start-up, Won't Get to Safe Mode, Blue Light just keeps blinking...

Nov 16, 2013

I have the same exact issue. I had mine pre-ordered from Gamestop. I've called Sony and have been sitting here not even sure if I'm on hold because there's no music, and the woman keeps telling me every few minutes to chat with a Playstation specialist online, even though that's not available. I'm not even sure what to do at this point. Driving me crazy Sony!

I haven't heard of anyone with the same problem being fixed yet. If you can boot into safe mode you will have a good chance of fixing it.

I've tried everything; tried removing/booting/replacing/booting, It won't boot into Safe Mode, the HDMI ports are intact, etc.

If you start the system and are just greeted with a blue light, you aren't been able to run initial setup. If you haven't run initial setup, you couldn't have entered information for your network. If you couldn't enter information for your network, your PS4 can't connect to the Internet. If your PS4 can't connect to the Internet, it can't download updates to install.

I set my TV at 1080p always. I had a similar idea so I tried setting my TV to other settings with no effect. On ONE occasion I managed to boot into Safe Mode, and there I tried adjusting resolution on the system itself and, once again, nothing. When I rebooted I was greeted with the same thing.

I tried switching tv's and resolutions and cables. I tried removing the hard drive and starting it. I also checked the harddrive on my pc and it was good.
I tried reformatting the harddrive.

Neither works.

I don't think its possible to fix without voiding the warranty or without the proper parts.

Thank you for your helpful input. As if it didn't suck enough having a system that was super-hyped just to wind up being a massive disappointment, we've got people like you laughing at us.

Some people get very excited for things and like to get the them day they come out. Food, books, games, etc. Anything you can think of. That includes video game systems.

Don't be a **bleep** just because some people wanted to get their hands on one.

Seriously, no reason to be a jerk about things. This is not an issue related to just the PS4 or consoles in general. Just wait till you buy a new car. Have fun driving around in it and then the Check Engine Light pops up and you start pooping your pants. Just like the PS4, it's covered under warranty so as long as you take it back to the dealer they'll fix what's wrong with it. So what? We have to wait for a little bit for a console to be returned to us. At least you'll have the peace of mind knowing that a Tech Expert inspected it and either repaired it for you or they replaced it with a Tested and Guaranteed to work New Console. No Bigs. I'm waiting, it sucks, but what can you do? Happens.
