Rapid-firing DUST community!
As I mentioned in a devblog on Uprising 1.2 and beyond, we moved over to a much faster cadence of updates to the game this summer. This has proven to be extremely successful, because it has allowed us to incorporate feedback from you, the community, as well as the CPM (Council of Planetary Management). The faster cadence has also allowed us to react much faster to the success (and sometimes fallout) of some of our implementation and tuning choices.
Uprising 1.3 saw important behind-the-scenes updates and bug fixes (as I am sure you all can see when in normal match-made battles), as well as the large-scale Planetary Conquest battles. But for the most part, the release focused on stability and performance.
By contrast, Uprising 1.4 is more substantial with regard to user-facing game systems. Let's get into some of the improvements the dev teams have made in the latest release cycle.
New Features and Content in Uprising 1.4
We have added in a brand new "Recent Updates" screen, which brings with it not only easy access to important information about your progression, communication and world events, but more importantly the daily active bonus. This is a system that is designed to give you daily activity bonus skill points upon first-time login each day, with an increase of each consecutive day of login. Eventually it maxes out on the seventh day, but keeps that bonus until you miss a daily login.
The Recent Updates screen is displayed every time you log in, and you are also able to open it up at any time from the Neocom. We will add in more content and features to the Recent Updates screen over time.
We have completely overhauled the Battle Finder and related backend systems. It now not only looks much slicker; it also gives you far better context to why and where you are fighting. As with the Recent Updates screen, you can expect more evolution to the Battle Finder, and the experience of entering a battle, in Uprising 1.5.
It's been a while since we've released brand new levels into the game. We are adding a brand new Research Facility Surface Infrastructure (comprised of one large outpost, 2 medium components and 4 small components) and a full 5k terrain with three battlegrounds called Craters. We are also releasing new “moods” to add more flavor and realism to the universe of New Eden.
We’ve completely overhauled and retuned the aim-assist systems, made extensive changes to the vision system (including disabling shared squad vision), re-tuned most parameters, and added new player icons. We have also dramatically reduced the issues with LAV collision damage; They now do damage based on the speed that a vehicle is traveling. This means it is far more difficult to roadkill infantry, though not impossible. You just have to mean it more!
What’s more, you are now able to see exactly where the RDV deploys your vehicle (yes. such a small thing, with such a big impact ), and a host of other UI and HUD fixes and improvements.
The rendering systems got their share of optimization and improvement love as well, with a notable change to the rendering of special effects such as the dropship thrusters. Vivox VOIP performance issues in large planetary conquest battles were largely resolved thanks to a concerted effort between our engineers in Shanghai and Vivox’s specialists. We also added timestamps in chat — a long-awaited and often requested feature.
And the list goes on. I cannot stress how much improvement the game has seen across all fronts.
Coming up in Uprising 1.5
We have exciting things in store for the next major update to the game, the 1.5 release. We will be revamping the new-player experience, adding more War Point rewards, rebalancing all of the vehicles and their roles, adding features to the squad system, and much more. Please keep the feedback coming and help us improve DUST 514 on all fronts.

...To quote Darth Vader in one of those first three SW movies,..."Impressive. MOST impressive".
And I mean it too. The Update Screen alone has me cheering: Now I may not have to spend extracurricular hours on Saturday nights thumbing through EVE Online sites to orient myself to World News and events. Patch 1.4 may allow me to do all that while I stay logged into Dust. My Dust progress and EVE's changing progress are two rivers getting nearer and nearer to being ONE communicating flow.
A battle finder that visually mirrors the starmap and gives us briefs on the who and the WHY behind the conflict in each District is also a path down this same flow. Excellent.
And more LARGE maps are like a birthday gift to me. Fewer fights in a fishbowl. More spread out land that requires more tactical thought and team-plans.
Plymco, you are great for being the first to deliver this again. And so is CCP, for reaching over the dozens of micro-gripes we complain about, and delivering these great "long-view" components to the game.

Thanks for hosting, both to you and Phoenix.
I see your players like to wear fatty suits, and bore into the enemy like Marine Recon. VERY HAIRY. Far-advanced work compared to the fishbowl of sporadic struggles I painfully observe from my DS while I'm practicing in the instant battles. Nice to know there are players out there who mass and chose an objective well.
All you need are some more Artificers/support folks. I only saw you (and maybe one other) doing the back-up duties on the ground. With a couple of capable vehicle drivers to hop you over, you can bore into the enemy from BOTH ends.

Waablammmo, you're eager!
I'm worried. I know most of us console players (most) are in this game for Dust 514, not EVE Online. But if the two games don't gradually get connected, what we have in Dust right now is ALL we're EVER gonna have, just five or six battle maps the size of goldfish bowls, and us running around like little mice...getting nowhere, and makin' only 6 billion ISK (ONLY, cuz EVE Online players operate in TRILLIONS of ISK).
I'm earger to see 1.4's communication and news array.
