How Do I Copy My Dark Souls Save File?

9 replies 6455 views Edited May 24, 2013

My PS3 Recently got hit with the RLOD and I reflowed it so I can back up my save files. However it won't let me copy my Dark Souls Save File because it's Copy Protected. Anyone know how I can back it up? I have over 500+ hrs worth of progress on it and would really rather not lose it.

Good question. I think you can back up the save files using a new feature in the latest Firmware update, But it backs everything you have up not just the one save file you want. So you will need a Memory Card or External hard drive that could fit it all. Other than that i'm not sure how you can bypass that stupid copy protected thing.

It is but I don't know when I will have enough money to buy a replacement PS3. So I will have to spend 15 for the first month of PS+ and if it takes over a month to get a new PS3. So then I will have to spend another 15 dollars to get the save file off the PS+ Cloud. So were talking 30 dollars just to get one Game Save off my PS3 lol. It means a lot to me but not that much.

I think it keeps your files if you let it lapse and come back. I let mine lapse for a couple months while I was out of town and when I got it back still had my files.

Well regardless I don't want to use PS+ anyway. I shouldn't have to pay to back up my PS3's game saves, that's just retarrded. Surely there's another way to back up Copy Protected Saves besides PS+ I would think.

With the back up utility. But I think you have to back everything up that way.

Yeah I was reading up on that. I've basically deleted everything on my PS3 so I can fit everything that's going to be backed up on my 4 GB SD Memory card. Really annoying I have to go through all this crap for one measly Gave Save file tho.

How can I be certain the Backup Data Utility backed up my Dark Souls Save File? Before I used it there was a message that said blah blah this won't beack up copy righted material. To see if my Dark Souls Save File was within the Data I backed up I looked at it on my computer. All the files are in a DAT Format though so I have no idea what is what. Could I get some confirmation on if this method worked on Copy Protected Saves please?
