Dragon Age 3 will draw from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, if BioWare boss Ray Muzyka is anyone to go by. Speaking to Wired, the developer said its learning from the strengths and weaknesses of Dragon Age II, as well as other games on the market today.
“ is gonna have the best of features from the prior Dragon Age games, but it’s also gonna have a lot of things I think players are gonna find compelling from some of the games that are out now that are doing really well with more of an open world feel,” Muzyka said.
“We’re checking out aggressively. We like it. We’re big admirers of and the product,” he said. “We think we can do some wonderful things.”
However wonderful those things are, they’re sure to surprise, according to Muzyka.
“Our goal is to surprise and delight our fans,” Muzyka teased. “I’ve seen something in the last couple of weeks that is really the future of that franchise that is so compelling, I am so looking forward to being able to announce it.”

I am also glad to hear about DA3, but I don't see where it says they are drawing from Skyrim, it just says that they like the product and admire Bethesda.

This bit:

Guess it depends on how you read it. But they're looking at current games with 'open worlds' and are 'aggressively' looking at Skyrim. That's where the article gets the 'draw' from.

It's very good that they're looking at the competition and becoming inspired from them. This means we'll likely get an even better final product.

Heh I agree. I didn't get DA2 because of bad PS support from bioware in origins, a game I enjoyed thorougly, but it seems I got lucky and avoided a giant disappointment.

They could draw from that great game called "Dragon Age: Origins" and I'd be happy. Wonder if the DA2 team played that one?
Lol. All I can say is fool me once shame on your fool me twice shame on me. DA3 will not be a day 1 purchase for me. I was burned by DA2 and that has forced me to wait for user reviews.
I am hopeful though that the game will be more like DAO.

I liked DA 2, it was still a good game, but in the article it said they learned from the strenghs and weakness' from DA 2, and it also goes on to say that. Dragon Age 3 will have all the best features of prior DA games, which means that DA 3 will have the best features from origins as well as the best features from DA 2. So you statement saying they could draw from origins, is what they already said they were going to do.

For me to get DA3 it will have to do some things.
1. More varied locations and not just a bunch of recycled enviroments over and over (number 1 complaint with DA2).
2. Ability to customize not only your gear but the gear and weapons of your party.
3. Please don't make every male character bisexual (I really did not think it would be that bad in DA2 but I was wrong). Maybe give an option to state your orientation at the begining of the game.
4. Keep the combat from DA2
If these things are done then I am pretty sure I will get the game.
