I heard from a friend that you spend the whole time in just one city, with side trips out here and there. I also heard it wasn't even that good. I enjoyed the first Dragon Age, but wasn't a huge fan. So I'm not even sure if I would enjoy playing it.

I've been asking myself the same thing lately. I absolutely loved the original Dragon Age game and thought the sequel would be a sure thing. But one of my buddies (also a fan of DA) told me that the sequel was a stripped down version of the game that was just released quickly to cash in on the popularity of the original. He's usually spot-on with his gaming advice so I didn't buy DA2.
Still, the game is lingering around on my Amazon wishlist. At around $15-$20 for a new copy it's not like a huge investment and might be worth getting just to confirm my own suspicions about the game.
Btw, the reviews on Amazon for DA2 are pretty bad too.

Dragon Age is worth a buy. Especially if the price has dropped into the twenties or lower. If you like hack n slash or action rpg games, you'll enjoy the tweaks to the combat. The stories not too bad either. The recycled maps only start to get annoying when you're into the third act in my opinion, and I still have replayed enough to be only a trophy away from the platinum (most of the trophies are exploration type trophys nothing's that hard to get if you like exploring the maps).

Alright thanks guys. I think I'm going to give it a try. $20 isn't too much to get angry over if the game is a bust anyways.
