I loved Fallout 3 to the point of obsession. I wandered the wasteland, scavanged every nook & cranny and killed a b-load of mutant enemies. New Vegas struck me as cold and empty and didn't have nearly as many areas to explore (most of the bulidings are boarded up). Wandering the vegas wasteland was more of a chore than it was in F3 and I didn't like the roman storyline. I hope it's Bethesda that's making F4 not Obsidian.

seems typical of beth to reuse broken software and then make empty promises untill people just give up. none the less i will purchase FO4. after your advice i gave Fallout 3 a whirl after skyrim and thoroughly enjoyed it. played FONV after that but cant get into it. it just doesnt capture me the way bethesda does.

He is probably referring to my post. During an interview with Todd Howard he said they would be using the Gamebyro engine for one more game before they get rid of it for next gen.
When was this interview? Sometime last year before Skyrim was released and people found out that Skyrim was using the same engine but heavily modified which is why Bethesda said it was different but it essence it was still the gambryo engine with lots of modifications.
I am just assuming it is Fallout 4. It could very well be some other title but personally I think that was his hint about telling us Fallout 4 would be out this gen.
I bet they will announce it at the Spike Awards at the end of the year and say that it will be coming out in September orlater of 2013.

normaly i would be like a kid in a candy store upon reading of a release date for a fo4 game.however my fear is that it will just be a repeat experience of my new vegas, skyrim, and fo3 experience. you know great game but suffers from technical issues. i have not purchased skyrim after the reviews given. there are other good games to enjoy that are coded correctly for my system so there is no need to read and hope for patches after paying 60 bucks plus taxes for a game so it maybe will not freeze or bug out when a save file gets past a certain size.

Personally, I loved New Vegas. I thought it was better than Fallout 3. Can't wait for FO4.
