the characters move quite quickly, no sprint is button I'd needed, and with the huge maps, using a sprint button would suck.

The character in Fallout moves pretty fast, so a sprint button would kind of be a waste.  Also, if a area is far away, then just use the quick travel.  If you haven't discovered the area, then it is a great reason to explore the surrounding area.  Have fun with it.

Get the PC version and you can sprint as fast as you want.
