A new "user guide", for what/where exactly deadend?

The previous Lithium controlled forums had a New User Guide. It detailed all of the forum features, tools and navigation, basically.

Gotcha.

There are a number of stickied Threads at the top of the page for this Forum, one of them is the Forum Guidelines one which contains some useful information, he link is below,

http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/Forum-Information-and-Help/Forum-Guidelines/m-p/37571295/mess...

There is also one titled "Rules of Conduct", another pretty useful Thread.

http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/Forum-Information-and-Help/Rules-of-Conduct/m-p/37570507/mess...

I'm assuming, perhaps incorrectly that you're probably already aware of these, they are of some help to both new new & experienced users alike but still not what you are referring to exactly?

Perhaps the Dr or someone else can help you put, sorry.

The closest thing to a New User Guide that I can think of right now is the Help (FAQ) page.

Anyone plan on creating a New User Guide?

I should hope we have the old one archived somewhere.  I helped write parts of it.  There are/were html links all throughout that document.  It would be much easier updating the old one than trying to write a new one from scratch.  I bet at least 95% of the old one is still good today.

That's it.  Good catch.  We would need someone with authority to re-post it.

Good idea!

I wasn't really aware of the old "Welcoming Committee" as was so I know very little about it or who was on it, I am also not sure what or who you consider to be a "Veteran", whether it be solely judged on DOJ, post count or a mixture of those & some other variables, would I like to be considered as a "mentor/Guide" for newcomers? yes I  would, I'll leave it up to you if you think I'm qualified ior not.

Good idea though Dr!

The old WC was formed by community members, vets and MVPs there. The PS welcoming committee truly became a part of the old PSU community in providing guidance to new community members & it so it was recognized by the old PSU mods.  As with everything that got covered by the shadow of Jive, the old WC got dismantled.

@DrGadget

While being kind and helpful to others is in action not in looks, we rely on looks to help spread the word. With this in mind, as I was surfing the forums, this tread inspired me to create couple of simple banner/sigs for the PS community Welcoming Committee v2.0. I just had finished working on an unrelated project and this left me with way more than what I needed on the scrap table to create these. 10 minutes of my time to the tunes of Arcana - Autumnal & Apocalyptica - Path  :smileytongue: [Good music]

|Banner: for use as a header for the main post and/or sig for those WC members who choose to.

|Signatures: Different sizes for those who will share their signature space with other images.

I also suggest the use of the following HTML code that includes the "Title" tag. This will allow you to type a message that will be shown when the mouse is place above the image. The URL shown in the HTML code is the bookmark URL for this thread's OP

<a href="http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/Forum-Information-and-Help/Welcoming-Committee-v-2-0/m-p/3784..."><img src="http://IMAGE_URL.png" title="A Community Effort v2.0"></a>

I hope these help further the cause. :smileyhappy:

If possible, add me.

Nice banner/sigs. :smileyhappy:

Do you, by any chance, have a tutorial on how you make your signatures?

Thanks deadend123  =)

Sorry but I don't have a tutorial on how to create any of the images displayed on my previous post.

The MGS4 image [my current sig] I created in 2008 in honor of MGS4. It is a frame of an animated .png image. The inside of the "MetalGearSolid4" text pulses, much like blood in a vein. The frames were created in photoshop and animated with an .png animator addon for Firefox. Sadly animated .png didn't get the fame and support it deserves.

The Welcome Committee images were created in Inkscape which is an open source vector graphics editor. It is a very simple image formed by Helvetica Neue [the font used for the "PlayStation" logo] and the world famous PS controller symbols created in Inkscape.  The other font is Orbitron an open source font.

I like simplicity & I love transparency. It is the base of my creations.

Actually, there is one thing that we should REALLY have around here, of someone is aambitious enough to make it.  I've been toying with the idea for a few weeks, but that only means I haven't had time in the last few weeks to do it.

Someone needs to make a "Forum How To" thread, with links to all the other cool things that newbies and veterans alike should know, like how to send a PM, how to make a sig, how to change the background color, and all of that fun stuff.  Make it look like this thread, which I also plan to replace some day, because the links are all broken.

http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/Movies-TV-Shows/The-Unofficial-Movie-Television-Series-Link-T...

Post enough valuable links within your Forum How To thread, and then we ask the mods to float it to the top.  It's been nearly impossible to find any of these threads lately, especially with all the moves.

Warning: Making such a thread will require constant updates for about the next 3 months.
