**bleep**?

Okay, so i'm deleting 967 messages from my inbox, when the game freezes (black ops, of course). I press and hold PS button and press quit game. The game quits, and it sits at a black screen for about a minute, and a yellow light stays on in the bottom left of the PS3 (front side, it's slim 120GIG). I turned it off by pulling the cord, because pressing the power button did not work, when i turned it back on, none of the lights in the bottom left came on.

:::::::

The standard background is all the comes up on the PS3 after that.

PRE-UPDATE::::::

It said it needs to restore my HDD, because it is corrupted, does this mean i lost ALL of my 60+ GIGs of frakin' data???????

Yep, sounds like a corrupted hard drive, especially since it's giving you the update.  It looks like you lost all of your data too, at least the game saves, pictures, video.. anything that was stored on the HDD and not uploaded or stored anywhere else.  Good news is that your Playstation 3 is most likely not dead... Now is a good time to find good deals on 2.5 inch HDDs.  I'd upgrade to atleast a 320GB while you're putting a new one in anyway.  Sorry about your data, but it doesn't look like you lost the console.

Re: **bleep**?

wow thats harsh "/

To prevent it happening again, try not to multitask on your ps3, e.g. deleting messages/friends, while ingame on black ops, or loading peoples profiles while the game is 4 seconds from beginning - this happened to me because i was sending a guy a friend request via the playercard, meanwhile, game started (silly me "/) and then the screen went black - nothing happened so i turned the ps3 off and i heard 3 beeps (like the startup beep) - however my hdd didn't corrupt.

Re: **bleep**?

What sucks is you prolly lost your game saves but the good news is your ps3 will likely be fine with a new hard drive. If you regularly back up your saves like we all should then no biggie but since not many of us do I'm guessing you're one of us that doesn't.

HDDs aren't expensive any more. You should be able to find a 500GB for $50 or less and if you really wait around for a bargain you may find a 1TB for around $100 or less. Remember it must be Serial ATA (SATA) and it must be a 2.5" drive, but the actual changing is a piece of cake. just a few screws and slide the old one out and the new in and done. Remember to format to FAT32 though.

Good luck and look on the bright side...you will at least be getting an upgrade now.
