Does anyone know what the hammer attack where you hold square does? I know for the sword you dash back and charge forward, but with the hammer you just wave it around and it doesn't even do any damage, as far as I can tell.

It sets them on fire, plus it pops them in the air so you can combo but it can be perryd

Really? It doesn't seem to do anything for me..
Although when I do it with the Hammer of Zeus it seems to electrically charge it, dunno what that does

When you hold Square it should glow with like  a red fire, but yea its can be easy to put people into combos. Hope this helps, if not let me know.

so does it charge your hammer up for you next attack or something? at least I think it does for Zeus since the hammer is crackling with electricity, not on fire

yes it adds elemental damage (DOT i think) to it

It adds a "on next attack" property based on the specific hammer. So any basic attack (square, in air square, even triangle / air triangle) will cause a mini explosion in addition to the normal attack.

Some launch, others apply elemental damage damage over times, or negative status affects like silence.

ah okay, thanks for the info. It sounds pretty useful, but I don't like how the input for it is the same as the attack for the sword, since I'm so used to it being an attack to use in a fight and end up leaving myself wide open.

I was just about to make a thread about this.

Yeah, every time I try to hold square for my hammer, it just swings right through my enemy and doesn't seem to phase them at all.

I've noticed the elemental damage on the next attack, and it's awesome, but it would be nice if the initial square hold attack did something.

Another point on hammers: the barbarian hammer's L1 + triangle summons souls the first time, but then it opens up 3 more L1 + triangle attacks, yes? I'm still confused how it works
