The 60GB were pretty cool. Had the chip to play the ps2 games on the motherboard.  If you were going to upgrade anyway then do it! New PS3 plus the Ascension game is in the $350, everything else is just gravy. The newer ones run A LOT quieter. I've heard that the new PS3 model might have taken out some of the features the slim had for overheating/heat dissipation. Look into that before you pull the trigger on a purchase.  Although the fat ones had a bad rap for overheating and yours lasted this long. Awesome!

I'd never get rid of my fatty! Lol! She has 4 USB ports, a compact flash slot, and a SD card slot. She'd just become more of a BluRay only player if I upgrade.

I've never had a real problem with overheating. But I don't turn it on for days at a time sometimes.

I'm not sure, I'm tempted to buy the white PS3 slim, but my 500gb original will be missed too much.

Knowing my luck, I'd buy it, and the next gen console would come out an hour later.
