Temple of Athena is a very small section in Crete for GoS. No 'rock golums' come to mind in that entry. Perhaps you refer to the Automaton (more of a bronze creature). Or maybe by 'rock' you mean the thing on its back...if there was electric I suppose you mean to refer to the Geryon. That could be it. He's right after the first visit of her temple.
As for your loading issue, there is little I can advise beyond restarting from last checkpoint, reloading the save or just restarting. If your disc is clean and legit, there should be no such issue. It seems unlikely you skipped any triggers necessary for the next section to load (as you put it).
