how about, you start at 8:00 and then keep the room open as long as people are interested in staying? if some have to leave, including host, by 9:00 then someone else coudl take over. if you set the room to allow the host to migrate when the host leaves, then that shouldn't be a problem.
I too wanted to join, but dinner got in the way ![]()
How was the turnout? What was the make up of the group like?

The turnout was reasonable, partly because it got listed in the open room list. Someone from Italy was there, for example.
I had hoped for more from the forums to be identified, but if they don't say anything, all we see is their flag of origin.
The timeframe can be modified, especially if more people show interest in participating.

what name do you give the room, out of curiosity?
something like "Playstation Forum Event" might snag a few lone wolves and bring them into the fold. just a thought.

The temporary room name was Monday Special Racing, but that shouldn't really affect how many forum members attended because all that the forum members (the people this event was designed to attract) would have seen here is the thread title and the long GT5 room number. They were either interested (or not) or they just couldn't attend. Since we have no control over who enters, though, we need some way of identifying forum members who arrive out of the blue, maybe get them to say or post a code word in chat.
The on-line room name and the stats shown in the room list were all the the on-line players would have seen, but they weren't the target players.

Time: 8 PM - 9 PM (or later, depending on interest) Be on time!
Track: Grand Valley Raceway, reverse (hopefully less trouble on the first corner...)
Car: NASCAR
Race conditions:
PP range: maxed at 630
Tires: Racing Softs (RMs didn't cut it)
Laps: 7 (this extends the time enough to make a pit stop necessary)
Tire wear: Low
This combo is to highlight using care with the accelerator and to control tire wear. Tires get best results on the 2nd and 3rd laps. By the fifth lap, you should be getting into trouble. Don't push your luck any further. So the question is, do you pit at the end of the 3rd or 4th lap?
You should be able to get around 1'50 laps, at best, but remember - there are sand traps, and be careful when exiting hairpins.
Racing will start on time, so be early.
I'll try to open around 7:30.
New races every 20 minutes.
