GTA V playable demo anytime soon?

With the game's release date on the horizon, I would think they'd release some sort of playable demo by now...apparently, there was a sort of preview demo featuring one of the main story missions (the one where you break some guy out of FIB custody) shown at E3...I think they should just go ahead and release that to the public, or at least SOMETHING for us to toy around with. It would definitely keep me occupied as I anxiously, but patiently await these last few months until the game's official launch. I'll be a bit disappointed if we don't get to experience a little tidbit sometime before the launch date. Any thoughts?

Re: GTA V playable demo anytime soon?

I've played enough GTA that I know what I am getting, and I can't freaking wait !!!!!!!!!!!

I would rather my first experience with GTA 5 be when I open the fresh plastic.... nom nom nom

but, there probably will be some sort of demo, I am 99% sure there was a GTA 4 demo

Re: GTA V playable demo anytime soon?

Rockstar Games has never released a demo or beta for their games. If they have released any, it was only playable at E3 or some other media event.

I really doubt R* will release one to the public for GTA V, when they have never done that before.

Re: GTA V playable demo anytime soon?

Hmmm...I didn't know that lol. I'm certainly not gonna get all bent out of shape over it if we don't get a demo, but I can understand why they wouldn't release one. I would however, like to see some new info about the game such as odd jobs or maybe they could reveal some more regarding the map and areas that we'll be causing havoc in. I do like all the latest screenies though. I'm still undecided about preordering the game since I'm pretty sure I'll be able to grab it if I can manage to get to my local retailer on launch day...I do know that if I ultimately decide to preorder, it will NOT be via Gamestop.

Re: GTA V playable demo anytime soon?

Yeah, they haven't released a demo for their games because they believe that it would either be too big to be fully demoed, or cut in half which would take away from the real experience.

Anyways, I also want to see more information about the game. Most likely we will get more trailers, screenshots, and information as it gets closer to release.

Re: GTA V playable demo anytime soon?

Well, demos are a good way to get the feel of how the controls work...when I first started playing GTA IV, I was somewhat disappointed with the controls - I simply do not like using the trigger buttons for gas/brake in games like these...but then I found out that there was a "classic" controller setup like the previous GTAs had. I didn't like the the camera controls while driving in GTA IV - the camera does not follow behind your vehicle when using anything but the in-car view like it does in previous GTAs, but I did eventually get used to it...It was only a big issue during missions or street racing, but otherwise I didn't care about it as much. I'm sure the controls in V will be similar to IV, so at least I'll be ready for it lol.

Re: GTA V playable demo anytime soon?

Having watched how R* pre-advertised their previous few games (RDR, LANoire, MP3) here's what's likely to happen next leading up to release (having seen varieties of screenshots and two trailers to date):

Some voiced-over gameplay videos - one of which focuses on what you'll be doing and how to interact with your characters, one focusing on the environment, one for multiplayer and/or Social Club interaction, and at least one other telling about whatever's left that they want to plug - vehicles/minigames/other characters/etc.

More screenshots and some various details will appear/trickle out as various newsmediablog outlets run their preview stories.

Very close to release we'll get short tv-ad-type videos, and which retailer has the various pre-order bonuses will likely be last.

Once the game is out a few weeks, we'll hear about inevitable DLC.

Basically subscribe to their newswire and youtube and you won't miss much.  I'm personally in embargo mode; I'm already buying it so I'm trying to avoid the preamble.
