This week's set of questions or comments has to be fast because we're recording it on Tuesday due to the events we're holding this week. That said, it's going to be a good episode.
Why? Because in addition to this week being MAG's birthday (and we have some plans for it), we're also going to have SOCOM 4 Multiplayer Lead Designer, Kevin Schmitt on the show. The topic? The importance of multiplayer in video games!
There is also the possibility that a producer from Sony Computer Entertainment may join us as well -- depending on his schedule, so it wouldn't hurt to ask broader, publisher-oriented stuff as well (keep in mind, though, this is a producer, so your Sony-oriented questions should stay in the realm of developing games, not other stuff like public relations, marketing, and the such -- not his role).
Anyhow -- go for it.
#1 What's happening this week?
#2 Were there ever any plans on the table to introduce more maps for original modes?
#3 What's your position on the freezing, is it solvable?
#4 When's the next "play with Zipper" event? Can it be international friendly times?
To the Sony dude:
#5 What dictates your server distribution / maintenance times?
#6 How long is the average Q&A process for patches?
#1. I hate to sound like a broken record, but do you have any plans to celebrate the 360 day anniversary for MAG?
# 2. Is there any news you can share regarding some clan Vs clan function being implemented?
# 3. Do you guys have any contingency plans in place in case you cannot find a fix to the current Dom mode (Absheron) specific freezing issues?
# 4. Not entirely 100% MAG related but is there any information you can give out regarding the release of the Sharpshooter attachment for Move?
For the Sony guy:
# 5. I dont have much clue about the setup you guys have, however I would be keen to find out what would happen if Zipper came to you and said that the only way to fix/improve the freezing was to simply stump up for a server upgrade (or whatever ...), would Sony be willing to push the boat out to help support this title?
I have a question that Totally relates to Multiplayer and the importance of it in Games.
(I also would like one of my questions answered )
As everyone will say Mutliplayer is very important in games as it allows people to showcase their skills. In MAG its the Team's skills or PMC skills.
Will we ever get to see Clan Versus Clan in MAG's Multiplayer or are you gonna give us a Final answer on the subject?
We all want a way to show our clans skills why dont you implement CLan wars into the Mix.
Killzone 3 is offering US residents access to the Socom 4 beta, while European members have to be a member of PSN+ in order to get into the Socom 4 beta. -> Will european gamers who buy Killzone 3 also have access to the beta ? if not why ? and Why does the US PSN+ not offer a beta for Socom 4?
When is the beta? Are there other (free) ways to get into the socom 4 beta ?
Can you talk in detail about weapons in socom 4 ? (how many attachments, what kind of attachments, camo?)
What game modes are currently in socom 4 ?
#5 (and most important)
Can we create our own ranked rooms for online play? (UCRR)
Will socom be bundled with one of the following : Sharpshooter attachment / Sony Bluetooth Mic 2.0 / Move Motion & Navigation controller ?
#1 Why wasn't larger scale clan support and clan battles a top priority in the design of MAG when the game revolves around tactics and teamwork, something your rarely ever going to get out of a group of random people you get put into games with?
Clan Wars would of catered to the more competitive crowd which you lost countless numbers of after the release of MAG because they got tired of redlining randoms when they found there was no real competition in MAG outside of your random chance encounters with a few of the better clans in this game.
You see the kind of attention that a scheduled clan match between 3C and The Dark Flock brought along with the scheduled matches between other clans that have occurred since so why wouldn't you want to support this in your game?
What are some things that Zipper has done in the past to prevent or stop cheaters in the online portions of your games, and now that the PS3's security has been compromised, is there any plans to beef up security or do things differently in your games to stop these people from ruining future games that yous release?
