,Well people generally play the game fall in love with it and then never actually try another game like it, and well become Fanboys. Happend with Final Fantasy, Grand Theft Auto, and Gran Turismo
,(all the ones you said) I give almost all games a chance I have thought about this alot and talked about it with other gamers for some time now.
Games that are usually big hits have been around for a while and they were first of their kind.

I think you are talking about fans because fanboy is a meaningless word imo. People invented the word fanboy so that they can use it to call other people with different opionions fanboys. When people are debating, and ran out of good points, they just take out the word fanboy and use it to make the other person look bad.
,I like PS2 more, and I get called fanboy for liking PS2 more. At least I ain't afraid of expressing my thoughts.
,On the other hand, some people like to say (and they say this almost everyday):
,"I like gaming on all consoles. Unlike many biased people here, I have an open mind about every game on every console."
,But when they see a good looking PS2 game, they will probably say:
,"FLOP"
,And when they see a new Xbox game, they will probably say:
,"This game owns *insert PS2 title here*"
,And they never explain why they think the PS2 game will flop and the Xbox game will own.

I'd have to agree with some of the others and say ICO... That game was just perfect on so many levels...
,I also really liked Pirates: The Legend of Black Cat... I didn't even know this game was out until I played an old demo... I rarely see it in any stores, but it was a blast to play... It's an adventure game that allows you to command a pirate ship that you can fight with and upgrade, collect booty, drink grog and reclaim your birthright. What's not to like?

For me personally, the Shin Megami Tensei (Persona) series has always been overlooked. The fact that we only have two of the many installments in NA certainly doesn't help things though. What is so amazing about Persona is the immensity of the two games, featuring different endings, different characters in each play through, interesting and thought provoking plots, characters actually worth getting to know and care about, tons of secret areas, and even some compelling reasons to go all the way up to Level 99 because of the special personaes available at these high levels.
,Why is the game series overlooked? Persona 1's First Person Dungeon didn't inspire gamers to get into the series when it was a fresh PSOne RPG, the lack of quicksave with massive sprawling dungeons was another problem, and an antiquated magic system based on use of the personaes to grow them in power were all factors. Persona 2 added a much better graphical engine and quicksave making it much more fun to play. Still, the antiquated use magic to increase Persona power is still a huge turnoff for gamers. Hopefully, the next installment of Persona (Shin Megami Tensei 3) will include a new magic system, perhaps based more on Grandia 2's improvements (Which previously used the same magic style system in Grandia 1).
,Atlus should still release Persona 2: Innocent Sin sometime for PSone, as it is a rather huge gap for series fans in NA between Persona 1 and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment storyline and character-wise.
