So, I was playing this game and it decided to autosave at the same moment our power went out. Long story short, my 12 hours worth of progress is now gone. I had three save files and they all somehow got corrupted.

Really,..thats a fail. Pathetic.

That's not a fail on the game's part. If you've noticed, every game advises against turning the power off while the game is saving. It makes your files corrupt. This happened to me playing a different game (God of War III I think) where I just turned the power off too early and it messed up my whole HDD. I had to restore it and everything. It was a nightmare.

Does it make you feel good to call someone else pathetic on the internet? That is truly pathetic.

Nah, it doesn't. Just don't like when someone judges an awesome game based on their neglect. Stop reading into stuff so much and be a happy gamer.

Bad Karma... Nothing to do with the game.

I feel sorry for you, man. There is pretty much nothing that can be done in these kind of cases.
As long as you like the game, I guess you may be fine. But I'd understand if it felt like a chore doing all of that again.

honestly 12 hours is not that much in the big picture of mass effect 2. i played the 360 version w/o all the dlc and got about 70 hours out of it. Now im playing the ps3 version and loving it. You should just restart if you saves were corrupted. Ya It sux, but its not that big of a deal.
