I've lost the reason for gaming? I still own and play all the games I've gotten 100% for. I have the Collector's Edition of Dead Space 2. It includes Dead Space Extraction and it has trophies. I took the demo for a spin and it doesn't seem like a game that I will particularly enjoy, so I won't be installing it. That's not the behavior of someone who just cares about trophies.
Secondly, why don't you stop earning trophies before you start bashing me for earning them. You guys are a bunch of hypocrites.
I don't think you people like you understand what trophies really are. You see, trophies have always been in games. They are not some new development. Before, they were always called medals and you would recieve them for completing various in-game challenges. We've always had them in games and we still do today. Games like Transformers: War For Cybertron, Uncharted 2 and hundreds of others have in-game challenges that rewared you with medals or a simple checkmark. In any case, that's what trophies are, they are another series of in-game challenges, except with trophies you can view all your accomplishments in one place instead of having to load each individual game.
I hear all the time from you guys how trophies are just to show off, but how can that be when you can't even see my trophies? You can't see mine and I can't see yours. Only I can see the tiles for the trophies I've unlocked. And if you can see mine, then you're a hypocrite, because you've got them too!
The way I see it, the more challenges for games, the better. I want more challenges, you want less. Maybe you're the one who has lost the reason for gaming.
EDIT: A lot of you trophy bashers out there have more trophies than the people your bashing.

Interesting theory, but games like Resident Evil 5 and Uncharted 2 both have 71 trophies each. Mass Effect 2 for the PS3 only has 56 trophies. I know there is another add-on coming, but I doubt the trophies included with it will push ME2 over a trophy limit.
Personally, I think it was a mistake. I think the people behind Mass Effect don't really care about Sony or the PS3 and they just threw the thing together just to be done with it and never looked back. Just my take. I think they spent as little time as possible putting ME2 together for the PS3. Our version didn't get all the trophies or even a booklet with our game. It lseems like a lot of people can't even get the trophies it does have to even unlock.
this is an epic game and i do do a little trophy hunting here and there but trophies dont mean squat any way it mearly a hey look at what i did thing. Playstation is not all about the trophies! when PS3 came out there were no such thing as trophies! PS 2 didnt have them ps1 didnt have them psp dosnt have them. and no it dosnt matter that we are missing a few i beat the shadow broker on insanity just a few hours ago and woopady do i dont cry just because i dont get a trophy on something! yes there a few game i would love to plat like WipEout HD. but trophies dont make the game. no do i buy game for trophies. good luck to you guys on insanity yeah its hard but its a blast XD
