Hi,

I own a PS3 FAT 40GB and i bought the MGS 4 and when i put the disc on doesn't read.

A friend of mine who has the game loaned it to me and the disc doesn't read as well.

I wonder if any of you have the same problem.

My other 16  games works fine.

I have the same PS3 as you and MGS4 has always worked well for me,  but I haven't played it in almost a year so I don't know if one of the updates messed it up. I'll try it when I get home and see.

Make sure that the game still works in your friends PS3 because he may have not played it in awhile and there could be a problem with the disc. If not that and all your other games work and noone else is having that problem then I'm not sure what it could be.

The disc works fine on the ps3 of my friends.

Just on my ps3 that doesn't work, but i agree with you that can be the some of the firmware update. It's the only reasonable thing.

I check to see if my copy of MGS 4 worked on my PS3 40 gb and it does,  I also have the latest firmware update.  I think they made a couple of different 40 gb models,  I don't know if that has anything to do with it.  Are any of your other 16 games as old as MGS 4 or are they all newer games.  It would be interesting to see if you could borrow another copy of the game and see if you have the same problem.

i hav a 60 gig and a 320 gig and it works fine on both

I tried the F1 2006 and the disc also didn't read.

I'll update the firmware and try again. I hope it works....

Hi,

A  tried to downgrade my firmware and both discs such as F12006 and GTA  IV, are readable and working fine but the Metal Gear Solid 4 still  doesn't work... but know the PS3 can read it. And when i tried to  install has freeze on 6%...

After  that i formatted my ps3, took me 2h and 30 minutes... and then i tried  the MGS 4 and it freeze again on 3%... and now it appears like this on  the main screen:

I've returned to the store and exchange the game but it's sold out and i'll have to wait...

I´m having the same problem, I bought a pre owned MGS4 and I´m trying to install on my ps3 40 gig, but no luck so far. I wonder if you have any solution to your problem. 

I read somewhere that this problem is due to the fact that the game is a dual layer disc, but my ps3 reads other games single and dual layers just fine.... I changed my hdd to a 250 gig for more space... Its the only problem I can think of... 

The only thing I managed to do was to download the 2.0 update. Could´t install the game though...

I have a fat ps3 40 gb that I bought in 2008, and it reads both the original Mgs4 release and the platinum version. I have the latest software updates installed. So this problem doesn't occur on all fat ps3s.
