Capcom pulls support from Wii/DS. does this signal a true MH PS3 experiance?

So if you guys haven't heard yet, Capcom just annouced that they're pulling support from the Wii and the 3DS. This news means that any and all rumors of possible future MH games on the Wii or the 3DS have just bedebunked(nintendo fanboys are in a uproar about it on capcom's forums lol). and with this "HD" version of portable 3rd for the PS3, Does this mean capcom has finally decided to go ahead with creating/getting close to revealing a True MH game PS3?

I sure hope

And Capcom could be pulling support because the 3DS is out, and the wii2 will be revealed at e3! So why make games for old systems? But yeah, I hope they make a MH for the PS3!

Re: Capcom pulls support from Wii/DS. does this signal a true MH PS3 experiance?

the 3DS isn't so much out as it is a failure. it had projected sales of 4 million for its first week, something it has yet to meet 2 months later. nintendo screwed itself over on the 3rd party support when they released the N64. Tri was the top selling 3rd party game for the wii in japan, but it barely managed to get close to 2 million units, so thats saying very little about it. they want to gain back 3rd party support with their new console, but(as i said at other forums), unless the cut back servely/dont/refuse to make their tradmark games, they wont get the 3rd party support they want. and if they do do that, they'll lose their loyal fanbase. they have backed themselves into a bad bad corner.

but with teh retraction of the support from them, Capcom annouced that they are greatly stepping up support on PS3 and eggsbawks. So we could very well be looking forward to a new, full HD monster hunter(possibly MH4) for PS3 next year(maybe). i'm excluding eggsbawks not because i dont like it, but because when it comes to MH, if the japanese dont get it, we dont get, and frontier for eggsbawks was an epic fail(they don't like it over there). so i could see capcom leaving them out of the MH game for good.

MH: Frontier for the X failed? Not surprised!

Wasn't it only released in Japan? Why would they release a MH game in Japan for the X...why not for the PlayStation? Who in Japan owns an X? hehe

Apparently Capcom is dropping support for the 3DS as well! They have a few big games coming out for it, such as the two Resident Evil games, but I'm pretty sure they are dropping support after that, or atleast taking a long vacation away.

I LOVE GOOD DISCUSSIONS! <3

Re: Capcom pulls support from Wii/DS. does this signal a true MH PS3 experiance?

i find this news insulting.

MH fans got absolutly screwed over by some suits at Capcom.

i bet this ALL stems from one jerk offending another jerk.

i could just imagine the suits discussing what "is best" for a franchise they only know from spreadsheets and financial statements.  MH is probabaly just a green line they drool over, forgetting the real world that made it so.

maybe im wrong, but from what little weve been given on the MH back-and-forth between sony and i see no respect for the fans and what they want.

persepctions, even wrong, are what matter.

it does mainly stem from making money. they are looking for the long run. the Wii is getting replaced, so droping support for newer games on it makes sense. the DS has been upgraded again, and its successor isn't doing nearly as well as was excepted. cutting support of it does make sense, for now. they're still releasing the several games they had prepared for it. i feel they holding back until they see an increase in sale's numbers for the 3DS. if it doesn't pick up enough to save it from being forgotten when the NGP hits, then cutting the support was smart. and with everything the NGP offers, its going to be hard to beat it(unless nintendo busts out a new pokemon game before then. americans are more obessed pokemon then anyone else now).

Anyway, so they aren't "Dropping" support for the 3DS, they are reducing/cutting back.   Anyway, I highly suspect that this is do to the 3DS' weak launch, however, i'm sure that they will support it more ferverntly when it picks up.

The 3DS has what will make it more popular than the NGP in Japan (much like how pretty much everyone here has a DS, but PSP is much less popular) (Don't get me wrong I love Sony and PSP, but I strongly feel that once Nintendo launches its stronger first party titles as well as some of the better 3rd party titles we saw them talking about 3DS will skyrocket.

there were two things that held back its launch

1) its expensive, something that Nintendo hasn't done before release a very expensive handheld

2) it has a relatively weak launch line-up.

when factors 1 & 2 work together it really doesn't make 3DS a viable purchase at this time.

I would really like NGP to get better games and support than the PSP and be in closer competition with the 3DS, however, if the 3DS was THAT expensive when it launched the NGP will be even more expensive, which will definately hurt it.

Heck they recently annouced that they reduced NGPs power so it could compete with the 3DS (not in terms of game graphics, but I suspec they did this so that the price point will be more comparable.)

Anyway:

As for a "TRUE" Monster hunter game, I assume that you mean something that isn't a port, maybe that will happen.

however the reason Japanese developers are making games for handhelds more and more is because console games are getting very expensive to make on current gen (and will be even more so next gen).    Many Japanese studios, are smaller than there western counter parts and cannot afford the Hollywood style budgets that the western studios put into the games, which makes it more difficult to release console games for these developers.

(for quote on that watch the recent Pach attack episode on Game Trailers)

Anyway, i'm very interested in seeing where things go with the NGP and the 3DS, and what the next generation of handhelds have in store for us.

That said, it is really way to soon for a new PS CONSOLE.   although I do think Nintendo is making the right move with releasing Project cafe as the wii is dated.

Anyway, i'm very excited to see what is going to be annouced PS wise (and game wise in general) at E3.

Re: Capcom pulls support from Wii/DS. does this signal a true MH PS3 experiance?

they're cutting the support of the 3DS. they droped to games and are only releasing what they have thats too far along to scrap(capcom doesn't like to waste money this way. they either change it or release as is).

I'm glad to see someone else knows its way to soon to replace the PS3. one thing i'm SICK of hearing is people saying "whats PS4 gonna be like" or "hopefully PS4 will better compete with the new xbox and nintendo system". does noone EVER listen anymore? sony said there is NO PS4. they dont even have plans for it yet. they actually said, that because of the cell(which the PS3 uses the lowest end of the cell family. remember this lol) they wont have to replace the PS3 for a long time. when you have the new xbox and new nintendo, PS3 will recieve a new update(remember, sony also announced at LEAST 10years of life before replacing it. its only 5 years old right now). The cell processor is the most powerful processor and one of the very few pieces of technology thats actually AHEAD of the technological curve, and its ahead by along shot. and being a joint project by Snoy, IBM and Toshiba(cant wait for toshiba to finally release its tvs with the cell in them), this thing has SO MANY patents that no other processor manufacturer can legally reproduce even the simple tech used to lead to the cell's creation(IBM owns the patents, and Sony is majority shareholder/funder of the cell). what we may see though, are PS3's released with higher end cells. but the PS3 is far to powerful to be replacing anytime soon.

Re: Capcom pulls support from Wii/DS. does this signal a true MH PS3 experiance?

I know sony's plan was 10 years, and i'm sure that the PS3 will be SUPPORTED that long, however, if Microsoft releases a console not long following Nintendo (who really is the only company who needed a new console), then this might force Sony's hand into releasing a new PS4 before they had originally intended too.

Re: Capcom pulls support from Wii/DS. does this signal a true MH PS3 experiance?

your looking at a new xbox though around or after 2013. this is because microsoft has a deal with the makers of COD to release all DLC for each new COD game on 360 first until after 2013.

the new nintendo system though wont be what people have heard about or presumed. it'll be on par with the 360 and below the PS3. claims have been made about it being more powerful then both 360 and PS3, but those claims were retracted rather fast. the new nintendo system will be a true 7th generation system, as the Wii was technically a 6th generation system(its nothing more then a Gamecube with a different processor). in all honesty, the 360 looks like it might be running at least 5 years before replacement, if microsoft hasn't completely destroyed its credibility in the gamming market with its (now) over 60% failure rate on 360's.
