Problem getting to XMB while playing music

Since the network went down i have been experiencing a problem with getting to the XMB while playing music. I can no longer press the PS button to go back to the main menu. It just asks if i want to quit playback. I liked the ability to be able to play music while viewing my photos or the internet browser. Are there any others who are experiencing this problem recently?
