I don't know what others have had to say about this, but I dislike people who play this music just to look cool. I know a person who listens to Fleet Foxes nonstop. He's so unconcerned with the mainstream and so intent on seeming underground that this is all he listens to. It irritates me because he won't give any mainstream artist a try. Red Hot Chili Peppers is mainstream, but they're still veryyyy good. I don't know. It's just people who listen to these bands sometimes give off the vibe of being extremely pretentious and solipsistic. An 'oh you listen to THAT" kind of vibe. To top off their music snobbery, they begin to talk about obscure bands and artists that no one even knew existed.
"Have you listened to that new Tallest Man on Earth CD?"
"Yeah, it's very good. The chord progressions on Vetiver's new album are better though."
"No, I think the lyrical content on The Wild Hunt are the best ever created. Period."
"Well, I really like NaS's albums for their lyrics."
"Can NaS even be considered an artist? Rapping is not an art form, it's just talking over beats. He doesn't play multi-layered instrumentals. He's mainstream. He has no substance. The Tallest Man on Earth's album is wayy better than anything NaS will even put out. His EP beats all his albums."

Regardless, I still like Grizzly Bear.

People seem to like Slow motion more, but I thought Tomboy sounded much better.
