I went hands-on with The Last of Us at a pre-E3 event in Santa Monica yesterday.
I was really impressed with what I played (way more impressed than the last time I played the game). It seems like creating a companion the player cares about is a new trend in the industry.
By the end of the demo, all I wanted to do was protect Ellie.
