I own firearms, and have purchased NONE of them at a Gun Show.  I do not believe Gun Shows are good anyway.  O would be all for the closure of such events.  If someone wants a gun, they can Google it, and then go to their Trusted and Official Local Gun Store.

That being said, I appreciate my guns everyday I watch the news.  Knowing I have protection against possible violence toward me, is satisfying.  I use all of my firearms on a regular basis.  I practice the firing, and handling of them at least once a week.  This is essential.  I am always weary of the "New" gun owner on the range, but luckily we have enough people on hand to properly instruct those who do not know what they are doing.  Something these gun shows do not have.  Therefore, as I have said, they should be shut down.

Being from the UK as I originally am I was never really around guns too much, don't get me wrong my job brought me into contact with them but only on a minor basis, but call me sad or stupid but I've always wanted to try holding & firing a gun, maybe one day I will.

It feels good Brit, it does. :smileyvery-happy:

On a serious note, it's empowering to hold a gun. I feel like Superman holding one.

Don't take away the 2nd Amendment, America has alot of enemies. Criminals can get guns too

I never feel like Superman.  I always have a great sense of awareness for the massive power I hold in my hands.  It is empowering, don't get me wrong.

That first shot of the day at the range though, is always a tense moment for me.  I check my firearms, load it, ensure my sights are clear.  I take a few breaths and prepare to fire.  After removing the safety, I take another moment to steady myself before squeezing the first round.

The the adrenaline comes in, and the rest of the day is bliss. :smileyhappy:

How do you like your Marlin 30-30, and what model do you have. I just bought a Marlin 30-30 model 336 a few months ago and I really like it. Also been looking at a M1911, my all time favorite handgun.

And Brit, if you want to try your hand at firearms, theres plenty of ranges in Florida that you can rent guns at.

The 30-30 is the 336.  I like it, and always wanted one.  If I were to replace it, I would get a Cimmaron .45 Lever Action Rifle.

My only issue with my Marlin is; it slam fired on me once.  Something broke off from the stock and jammed it.  I had it fixed, but to this day, the lever does not stay locked in the fire position.  I have to "squeeze"/Hold it closed when I fire.  Other than that it is great.

If I shoot both the AR and the Marlin on the same day at the range, I have to fire the 30-30 before moving to the carbine.  The kick from the 30-30 is hard to adjust into, after firing a few hundred rounds from the "semi" action of the carbine.

All in all, extremely accurate up to 50 Yards with the Iron Sights. :smileywink:

I also would not mind having an AR-10.  For now though, I think I am pretty well covered.
