Anyone else tired of first person shooters?

21 replies 157 views Edited Jun 3, 2013
Im getting tired of them and wish that companies would go back to making platformers like the good 'ol days. I miss the 90's. Anyone else agree?

I agree! I also want games to be hard like they used to be... Remember your first time on the rainbow track in mario kart?

Almost all new shooters to me have been BLAH and I'm the shooter guy Smiley Tongue

MAG and warhawk were 2 gems this gen on the PS3, DUST514 is very different as well and an interesting shooter that I've been having fun with, its also free to play in the PSstore!

Apart from the Killzone and Resistance series, Call of Duty is about the only first-person shooter franchise I've played this entire generation. Call of Duty is definitely a most redundant staple of today's online gaming world.

But, the '90s also had many first-person shooters as well. That's when the whole first-person shooter surge took off. Amongst those games were titles like Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, GoldenEye 007, and one called Hexen: Beyond Heretic. The '90s had a boom for platformers, but it was also a big success for the first-person shooter genre all the same.

I sure as hell am. Back in the 90's the video game market was oversaturated with platformers, quite a lot of them were good quality games too.

But flash forward around 20 years, and now the markets oversaturated with FPS's, most of which are of an average quality, there are a few good gems though.
