Disney shuts down LucasArts

Just to inform everyone, LucasArts is no more. Due to layoffs, Disney has put to end one of the most iconic gaming studios, mostly responsible for Star Wars game.

Just thought that you all should be informed. I do not know if this will affect any of their games. This already canceled a game they were currently making. It's ashame that this should happen.

This is pretty big. I don't know if many people on here realize that.

I'm sad to find out "Star Wars 1313" is cancelled. It looked promising, from what they showed off last year at E3.

They're going to license the Star Wars games out to other developers. Let the bidding process begin!

I wish there were more Star Wars games on the PS3. I remember playing them on my PS2. *sighs* I hope there will still be more.

Give it some time. Disney didn't become the entertainment goliath it is by not knowing anything about business. There's a slew of new Star Wars movies on the way, so when the time is right we'll see more games.

This was in the back of my mind with the recent news that they had put projects on hold. They had shuttered their own studios so I was curious if they would do the same with LA. Would be weird to shutter their own and then buy another in a deal to go full on with it.

I liked The Force Unleashed. It's a shame we won't see more of it. Hopefully the people laid off find work soon. Looks like the fate of Star Wars games rest on the shoulders or brave indies and third parties.

Selling Star Wars to Disney was probably the worst move George Lucas could've ever made. Disney did the clone wars cartoon, but I don't think anything good is going to come out of their owning the rights to Star Wars. Shutting down lucasarts is just one more reason for me to support Disney even less than what I already do. For me to even watch the new movies, they're going to have to show an epically amazing preview, and Disney has a very long way to go to even come within the same continent of meeting that requirement for me.
