Business has no time for morals. Its all about the money.

That being said leviticus says homosexuality is wrong as is shaving your beard and treating foreigners differently than you would a lifelong neighbor etc so I honestly just LOL. If youre gonna follow a religion follow it. Dont pick and choose what you follow/dont follow.

I personally believe that no organized religion is right but they all may have parts that are true and false. Just that no one knows what the truth is. Religion has caused wars and many horrible things but its also given people hope. So its much like a human. It does good and bad.

Except the westboro Baptist Church. I am quite sure whatever I say about them will get modded and possibly get me a warning so im just going to say No I dont like them. At. All.

The Old Testament has several types of law and you need to differentiate them. The difference between beards, eating pork, and sex with a man (it does not say homosexuality because that is an attraction...it talks about the sex) is the purpose. Beards and dietary laws are symbolic and ritual. They stress several different things (for example, not wearing clothing made of two fabrics is a reminder of keeping the Israelites from mixing their culture with the ones around them). Not allowing murder, theft, or sex with the same sex is under the moral law. That is something that is to continue regardless of progressive revelation revealed later on where Jesus says the ritual law is fulfilled (hence why Christians can eat pork or wear clothing of two fabrics). The moral law still stands. It would be something if Jesus fulfilling the law allowed murder! But he did not do that. The different laws have different purposes and must be looked at with the historical and theological context.

And I totally agree on the Westboro Baptists. They are terrible.

Hit the nail on the head. And I disapprove of EVERYTHING the Westboro Baptist Church does. I hope that no one thinks all Christians are as mentally disturbed as those morons.

Anyone who paints all Christians with the "westboro baptist brush" has an agenda against the christian faith.

At the end of the day, he's back on the show cause the fans fought for it. I dislike ignorance and hatred, what he said was plain ignorance cause he has no actual knowledge and proved so by comparing homosexuality to beatiality.

Now why this thread is still open on these forums is beyond me as this is a very touchy subject.

So Phil Robertson is a clown in my opinion.

I doubt he was ever off the show to begin with. It was most likely all just a publicity stunt from the network. The whole show is fake anyway and Phil Robertson and the rest of the cast are nothing more then yuppies in redneck drag. All he was doing was keeping up with the character that the TV execs created for him.

Ugh the false talking point and using it to bump the thread.

What Phil Robertson did was express the Catholic Faith's holy book, the Bible's, view on the act of homosexual sex.   Like I said previously:

I'm not a christian.  I am totally cool with people being gay if that is their choice, heck I have gay family members.  I actually voted to make gay marriage legal in my state when it was on the ballot.   That being said, I fully support EVERYONE'S freedom of expression in America.   This action against Phil Robertson is so anti-american, anti-freedom of expresssion, and I can't stand it.  I'm reminded of something from history that was once said by Martin Niemöller "First they came for the Jews and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.  Then they came for the communists and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Communist.  Then they came for the socialists and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Socialist.  Then they came for the trade unionists and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.  Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me."

I might not be a christian or a catholic but I sure as heck am going to fight for their rights to have their religious viewpoints without having to face bigotry and persecution such as this over it.   Next thing I know I'll be the "bad guy" becuase I actually care about individual liberty and the United State's Constitution.

Think about it for a minute.  Gay men and women want everyone to accept and respect their viewpoint and life choice, correct?  I respect it, I have no problem at all with people being gay, it makes you no better or worse than any other American.  However, this same acceptance and respect that gay individuals want is not being extended to those of the Christian and Muslim faiths, and in the name of intellectual honesty it should be.  Religious people deserve the same civil liberties as everyone else.

I have a gay friend and 2 gay family members.  They deal with less grief about their life choice in the media and in their real lives than I see those in my circle whom are Christians deal with through the media and real life.

On an individual level people don't have to accept the religious people's views at all, that is our perogative.  However, there is no need to for people to act like fascists about it and call for people to be individually persecuted for their religious views, especially in America!
