Re: First Person or Third Person?

Third Person.

Third Person is better because I feel like I have more control. Plus I can see around corners, which is insanely useful. Typically I prefer the "Over the Shoulder" view like in RE4, The Order: 1886, and The Evil Within.

First Person isn't bad though. It's being used in horror games and that's where I think it works best. It really puts the player in the game and the player can experience everything from the character's view.

If I'm fighting at range or exploring, I definitely prefer first person.  So in Elder Scrolls, where I play as an archer, I'm always in FP view.  Also, I feel more personally immersed in the world in first person.

Same goes for horror games.  Just makes the experience more intense IMO.  If I'm peeking around a corner in a dark hallway, it's more tense than if I'm watching a character peek around a corner.

If however combat is at close quarters, sword-fighting, etc.,  I prefer third person.  Likewise I wouldn't want to play FP platformers.  So it depends.

Ultimately, wherever possible, developers should have an option for both.

Mostly I prefer first person.  I do switch to third when driving or flying in Battlefield, though. Stealth games and melee-heavy games work much better in third person because they give you a better perspective between your character, the environment, and enemies.   I don't think The Last of Us would have been nearly as impactful if it had been first person.

I like both and honestly don't have a preference.

I prefer 3rd person because you get to actually SEE your character... even if its just the back. But I dig some first person games. I dont really mind em.

Third Person....At first it was because I could see my character...But now I notice that I play alot better when it is Third Person...I don't mind First person at all, but I am not so great with it...Third Person feels much slower and has a little pace to it....

I prefer playing video games in thrid person because I want to see my character as I play as him/her.

I honestly enjoy both quite a bit. Whether it be BF3 and Resistance for First Person or Just Cause 2 and Red Faction: Guerrilla for Third Person, I don't discriminate the genres. Both are equally a blast to me.
