They should of made a nice memorial park, not some building. It's going to be the main target when it's all done.

Just watch though, if any group of terrorists try to take it down again, it'll be an automatically nuclear war on their living area. Smiley Very Happy

they did make a memorial park.

2 giant reflecting ponds the size of both the buildings in the spots they used to stand, and surrounding each pond is a bronze rail with the name of everyone who died that day. not to mention theres also a museum above ground and underground.

the new building is not on the same site the old ones used to be.

i watched a show on Discovery back in 2011 about the building of the memorial and the museum, it was very interesting. the entire museum is set to open this year for the 9/11 anniversary. one of the more striking things about the museum is the underground section, they have the actual base of one of the towers exposed to see aswell as various vehicles like firetrucks that were caught in the colapse.

But we still have a need for the building, to serve the same function as the two towers that were destroyed.  New York is a major world commerce center.  We need a place for people to manage world finances.

As for the terrorists, they found a lot of facepalm design flaws in the tein towers that helped lead to their destruction.  They designed these out of the new tower.

I don't have a lot of faith in the TSA terrorist screening at airports, because they haven't caught a single suspect in 10 years.  Every suspect they caught (like the underwear bomber) was due to anonymous tips about suspicious activity.  There's no evidence that I know of to show that the TSA agents are worth having at all.  Not to mention the obnoxious and invasive searches they perform.  We're paying billions of dollars for that?

And yes it's cool that they're almost done with this tower, but it's been almost 12 years now.  China is preparing to build the world's tallest building and it's expected to go up in 90 days and actually be *stronger* than a traditional skyscraper.  How about that?  From the descriptions, it sounds more like an archology than just a building.  People will live there, eat there, work there, enjoy recreation there, etc.

Right now the project is on hold, but it will most likely be approved in less than 11 years.

It's actually part of a larger master plan for China to "urbanize", thereby operating with fewer resources, concentrating talent in a small area, and creating zones of creativity like New York.

This will probably become the way skyscrapers are made from now on.  The expected benefits are just so great that it's worth ironing out any bumps in the road.

Cool building, but in response to all the people saying "whats going to stop planes from hitting it" well, the air-force will.

Where were they on that infamous day? I'll leave that up to your imagination.   What I will say, is much MUCH smaller crafts have been in un-authorized airspace for much shorter times before the airfoce contacted them and told them to basically turn around, or be blown down.

Looks like they heard me.

The 220-story Sky City project just got approved.

They expect it to be completed by year's end.
