Re: Scariest movie you've ever seen?

I have always liked A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) so I guess I will "vote" for that one.

Honorable mentions go to Stephen King's IT (1990) and Stephen King's Pet Sematary (1989).

The 1995 horror film called Tales from the Hood is quite the scariest.

Some of the parts have their scary moments, the mayor getting his vengance on the crooked officers (minus the rookie) by being revived as a zombie in Rouge Cop Relevation, the abusive stepfather being crumpled into knots and burned alive with a piece of paper as his weakness in Boys Do Get Bruised, the dolls in KKK Comuppance, Crazy K getting sprayed with bullets near the end of Hard-Core Convert, and the three gangsters realizing they were dead the whole time throughout the film and are burned alive by Mr. Simms as he transforms into the Devil.

I wouldn't say it's the scariest I've ever seen but In "Children of the Corn" where the kid comes back to life after being run over by the car makes me jump every time even though I know it's coming.

The Exorcist.

Any movies that deal with possession, demons, or the devil really get to me.

A shout-out also goes to Phantasm.  The tall man, dwarves, and those flying spheres were creepy.

I thought "The Shining" was a romantic comedy based on this trailer. Smiley Very Happy

The hospital scene.

Indeed, and with no CGI. Amazing stuff. I'm also going to add John Carpenter's The Thing. Great movie all around and scary too.

I think that was the first time that stunt was pulled but I have scene it redone in so many movies that now I expect it.
