The Dodge Viper Tragedy

How could I forget about this? I never really hated Chrysler before but when this caught my attention... I was disgusted. Has that changed now that it's been months? No!

It sucks, but what they did made sense.  They were hit with several lawsuits with more to come.  And you'd know they would be coming.

Chrysler did what they had to do to protect themselves and the general public, in that order.

Would've been nice if they could've saved at least one Viper for museum use :/

Agreed.  They should have stripped atleast one of the cars to a non working state and donated to a car museum.  Atleast GM gave the EV1 electric car that treatment before they struck a deal with the oil companies and killed the program.

This is actually surprising that this didn't happen sooner.

Most prototypes are destroyed after a short time.

The only reason why the Viper Prototypes stayed around is because the entire project team that developed the car basically gave the cars away to collectors.

It wasn't until the restructuring of Chrysler that they finally decided to get rid of them before any lawsuit is made from any of them being in a wreck.

Even if the Vipers were given to collector's, they should have been used for displaying and decorative purposes, not for everyday road use.
