There's controversial, and then there's just plain wrong..

During my time as an assistant store manager at Gamestop, I had seen and heard a lot of strange things. Nothing however was as disturbing as this.

I was told that there was a last minute conference call with our district manager to discuss an upcoming game. This was odd since I knew there weren't any AAA titles coming at the time (at least none that we hasn't prepared for). During the call I was told about "School Shooter: North American Tour 2012"

We were told in no uncertain terms that we would not be offering this title or any information about this title to anyone. At first I thought it had to be a joke, I mean who would make a game like that?

Nope, not a joke.

Thankfully, due to justified outrage, the game will not be coming out. The host website that the game was going to be released for download on has also been shut down.

What are your thoughts on this?

People will do anything to get recognized. It was nothing more than a stunt, clearly this would never take off except in sick twisted circles.

It would make for a neat game from the perspective of security guard or something like that.

Disturbing yes, surprising no.

What would Gamestop have to do with a PC only underground mod of Half life 2 that was download only?

I'm not shocked. There was quite an outrage over a game called Postal back in the mid-90's for the same reasons. The game still came out, but there was no advertising for it.

Sounds like it could've been DLC for GTA V

The Flying Grayson, Nightwing, Robin, They were about more than fight moves. They were about inspiration, comfort, trust, family. I gave that up to become a spy. a Spider man; A Tsuchigumo. I have changed.
But I'll Always be D. Grayson

I'm not sure why GameStop was all huffy about it. They just made sure to go out of their way to tell us never to devulge information about the game to customers.

As you've said, it's not like we would have been selling it or anything. I'm not surprised though, management there is usually so confused they don't know wether to scratch their watch or wind their butt.
