Is there a difference between MPEG4 files or does the PSP need special encoding?

,Yes, they say .mp4 at the end of the name and the site says they are encoded in mpeg-4 format (two different bit rates, but neither work). The site is archive.org . I'm presuming that they don't fit the PSP requirements for MPEG-4 which seems to be a subset. Its a pain to have to reconvert them (and psp video 9 won't even acknowledge the format so i use Nero) because it takes about an hour for 1.5 hour movie. Any other suggestions? Could I use some software to modify the headers to make it PSP compatible and still work? Thanks
