Re: Media Go! for Linux and Mac users?

Dead link to the last one posted - maybe the post was moved or deleted.

Not all of us use M$ Windows and nor would I ever.

I've always had games for the PS and Ubuntu Linux for anything else.

I tried to install Media Go Over wine but it is too dot net dependant.

You can install most things using winetricks.

I am still trying things out so watch this space.

Re: Media Go! for Linux and Mac users?

MediaGo might not work well for Ubuntu because MediaGo interrogates with PSN Store, Quick Time and Video Playback. Wine Emulator runs only one .exe, running with two or more .exe at the same time would crash your PC.

I heard that MediaGo can run on Mac but I'm not sure about this.

Remember the number #1 OS is Linux and that is according to the EU. I don't see why a modified version of Media Go could not work on Linux or let alone a MAC

Re: Media Go! for Linux and Mac users?

Sony could produce Linux or Mac versions of Media Go, but they choose not to. They only supports Winblows. So if you want to use Media Go you will have to run Windows. I'm also a Linux user, but I have my system set up to dual-boot so I can boot into Windows to run the occasional odd program for which there is no Linux support (my phone sync software is also Winblows only). Running Windows in a VM might be another possibility. Haven't tried it myself, yet, but I've been meaning to.

My Netbook dual-boots Crunchbang Linux and Windows-7. My  desktop triple boots Lunix Mint, Crunchbang and Windows-7.

Personally I found I really don't need to run Media Go. I just use the USB cable to transfer media directly to my PSPgo, and download games using my PS3 (or from the PSP itself).

USB mode works fine under Linux. My PSPgo shows up as 2 USB storage devices. One for the Internal flash memory and another for the MSmicro. I can open either and drag-n-drop media to the appropriate folders. The Go even shows up in Linux as a media player so you could use something like Rhythmbox to sync it if you wanted to.

If you need help in converting videos for the PSP check out a program called Handbrake.

So it's possible to be happy with a PSPgo without being dependant on the Media Go software.

Re: Media Go! for Linux and Mac users?

I think Sony should work immediately as to make a software for linux like Ubuntu or Red Hat etc.

Many users r using these now a days.

Hope this msg reaches to Sony software team.

Thank you.

Not gonna happen.

It won't. There is no official Sony support here. This a community support forum. Users helping users. If you want share your concerns with Sony use the Contact Us link below (but it's still not gonna happen).

Just use the PSPgo USB cable to move data in and out of your Go. No need for any special software.
