Yea I am having the exact same problem. Same phone, same process and same error. I'm using Tether for root users and am teathering with the blootooth option. Works when an iphone/laptop or PC connects with it but can't get my PSP Go to connect.

I would believe that the network is for the iPhone ie Apple network only.  You may have problems with that so you need to call AT&T...

I got the same problem, but I would also like to know if it is possible to connect the g1 and the psp go or what kind of bluetooth device allows connection to the psp go.

It's pretty easy: duct tape your Go to your G1, then throw it at a cell phone tower when lightning's about to strike. It will then short-circuit and come alive, creating the new PSPg1! Like it's parent company, it will try to take over the world - but at least you'll be online.

The obtain number from the modem option does not work. You must put in the number manually. I'm on AT&T and after putting in the number manually it works. Try this:

Dial up Number: *99#
User Name: (leave blank)
Password: (leave blank)
Initialization Command: (leave blank) or try, AT+cgdcont=1,”IP”,”wap.cingular”
DNS Setting: Automatic
Proxy Server: Do Not Use

Note that most "Unlimited" data plans do not include tethering. That usually has to be added at increased cost. I have tethered lightly on AT&T without any trouble, but YMMV so use with caution.

EDIT: Note that T-Mobile and AT&T use different and incompatible 3G frequencies. A phone designed for T-Mobile (G1) will only operate on the much slower 2G/Edge network on AT&T. So while it may be possible to connect your G1 and Go, data performance will probably suck.

EDIT 2: And why are you paying for an iPhone plan with a G1? Unlocked phones on AT&T should be able to use the standard $15/month data plan (I'm on $10/month Family Data with my Nokia smartphone).

has nothing to do with an apple network like that guys said. the G1 is not DUN enabled. you have to get a program like PDAnet for Android so that you can use its bluetooth DUN. but not sure if the G1 has Android 2.0 on it. because PDAnet only runs on android 2.0 or higher

I hope Sony address this whole PSPgo tethering issue because that was huge reason why I got one was for the bluetooth function. Everyone on this forum is having issues tethering with the PSPgo no matter what make/model or service with their phone. I have no idea if a firmware fix my help us but something needs to be done about this. I have a Blackberry with T Mobile service which allows me to tether to my laptop with no issues but as far as things go with the PSPgo I go through the same issues as everyone else.

Believe me if the tethering was a success someone would have posted it on YouTube already. HTC Pro was successful tethering to PSPgo on Youtube.
