Broken UMD drive?

9 replies 225 views Edited Dec 22, 2009
I think my UMD drive is broken, as it won't find games. What's happening, is I put the game in, it spins for about 5 seconds, then stops and I can't see any option to play the game. I've tried with 3 games, and none work. Anyone got a solution on how to fix this?
Be as smart as you can, but remember that it is always better to be wise than to be smart.

Happened to my 1000, I trashed it, you should probably send it to sony to see if they can fix it.

Odds are, the UMD drive has met its end.  You COULD attempt a DIY, but it's quite technical.  Parts are out there, I would think, to replace the damaged drive/reader.  I think.  Otherwise, take your issue to Sony and see what they'll charge and what you can expect.  Otherwise, those PSP 3K models are looking sweeter all the time.
