I was on a road trip, and some of my water accidentally got into my PSP. Now it won't turn on, I tried buying a new battery, still won't turn on,
I have a PSP 2007.
Please Help. Fast replies.
You'll have to take the entire unit apart to get access to the board. Then using a multimeter set to "ohms" or "continuity," check the fuse if it still passes power. If it is blown, replace it or jump it with a wire. If it is working, then your PSP is dead.
The fuse is located at number 1 of this photo. It is a small square brick that is usually clear or brown. At the edges of the brick, there are two silver pads. Check for continuity between the two silver pads.
The warranty for the 2000 was one year, so it is unlikely that it is still in effect. Also, you have to have the original purchase receipt to receive warranty service, even if the PSP was purchased within the last year. Besides, water damage is not covered by the Sony warranty anyway. The warranty only covers defects in materials and workmanship. Not accidental damage. You would need a replacement guarantee from a retailer like Toys R Us or Best Buy in order to get a free replacement after getting the PSP wet. You can still send it in to Sony for repair, but you will have to pay a fee.
