No one was forced to have it removed, everyone had a choice to not install the update and live with the consequences.

Everyone who chose to keep Linux is now living with an essentially bricked PS3--it can no longer play disc-based games that require the new firmware, it can't play Blu-ray movies, and it can't access the Playstation Store.

And exactly how many disc-based games require the new firmware at the moment? None

All current Blu-ray movies also still work fine.

Finally, the PlayStation Store is part of the PlayStation Network which is not necessarily entitled to the PS3 and merely an additional service.

so since sony removed it did we really need it? i mean it was a plus but comparing to xbox 360 there system is $200 and doesnt even have a browser or blu ray ETC. So was it really needed. But i do undestand the browser for ps3 that neeeds to be fixed

As much as we need the Blu-Ray player.  They are both not essential to playing games, but they were additional features that people took into consideration when deciding whether or not to buy a PS3.
