Error 80710723 PS3 won't update any of my games.

75 replies 66264 views Edited Dec 27, 2012

Hello, I recently tried to play a few different games on my PS3 and they are requiring an update. About a month ago I rented Black Ops 2 and it updated fine, but now I'm getting an error 80710723 and nothing is downloading. I've tried a few port forwarding guides, I've turned off the media streaming option, I've also changed the DNS ports on my system and nothing is happening.

For reference, I start up a game (Particularly Dark Souls, and Max Payne 3), it says "Please wait..." for about 5 minutes, then the download screen comes up and it sits at 0% for about 5 more minutes, and then it says that I have an error. I have full access to the PSN store and can stream media and access the internet on the system, but it won't update any of my games.

Any help?

I'm getting the same error when trying to download the update for Black Ops 2 & 007 Legends. Frustrating to say the least Smiley Mad

Same problem here. I attempt to update games such as Battlefield 3, Borderlands 2 and Assassin's Creed 3, and all give the same or similar results. Either it doesn't even make it to the download screen and states the error message, or it sits at 0% for a couple minutes until I get it. I have changed uPnP and Media Server settings to no avail. Any help would be appreciated, as I had originally thought it was a unique problem I was having.

Error code 80710723 stands for Network Server Timeout.  Most likely it is due to congestion

Same thing here.   New PS3 for Xmas.  Updated system just fine at initial setup.  Play station store works fine.  Won't update COD MW3 for and update (36MB) presumably needed for online play.

Seems to be a trend.

When it comes to a digital environment consistency is key, specially in a gaming environment. Everybody must have the latest software with the latest online assets.
The trend is  everybody got electronics for xmas thus congesting the intewebs rrrrr

So you're saying the congestion that isn't letting me update my games is from everyone attempting to update a game?

I'm showing 12mbps download speed on the internet settings test on the system. The playstation network store and game downloads from there are all soaring through, but you're saying that a 35mb file to update a game is what's causing the systems to break down? I'm sure there are tons more people who simply just got new games for christmas, are you telling me none of those are updating either?

12Mbps download speed = 1.5MB download speed for  a 35MB file. Not bad it should be downloading no problem unless the server upload speed and/or your download speed are fluctuating. With that said, with such download speed I doubt PSN Store content [demos/games] are "soaring through" Now keeping in mind the average size of a PSN demo Vs a 35MB patch, yeah, I get what you are saying.

There are a lot of people undergoing the same issue you are having. Look at the board

Yes, I am. Not everybody is updating the same game but a lot of people, the majority new PlayStation owners, are updating their new games. Many of these games have been out for a while thus requiring the user to download all the available patches for the game. I'm not saying because this everything is good. Like any company that has committed itself to the digital market, SONY should have made sure PSN was ready for the wave of end-users. Having said that, the  PSN Network Free, the PSN is online and the store is open for business.  I can't complaint too much
