I have the same problem God_smaka has...no matter what game I'm playing, it'll run fine for awhile and then the screen will freeze. Someone keep me from takin' a sledge to this piece of ****. I need serious answers, thanks!

My fiance's PS3 keeps doing the same thing. But only when he is playing games. We can listen to music and everything else just fine! It's not because the vents are clogged, cause then everything would freeze on the system not just the games. He has had the PS3 for 3 years and never had this problem at all, till just a few days ago. If it was the vents, it would have started freezing before now, considering it has yet to be cleaned. My fiance is doing that tonight and if it continues to freeze, then I am going to search for a better answer than "clean the vents" I doubt it will make a difference but we will see! Will comment tomorrow, and let you know!

Were you using a regular TV before switching to HD? Did the HD post just not work when you hooked the HDTV up? If so when you power on your PS3 hold the power button for an extra 10 seconds, that should do the trick! I went to my local GameStop store and asked them about an HDTV adaptor cord and they asked if my HD port just wouldn't work and that's what they told me to do and it worked!

If you PS3 is freezing then put it next to a warm fire
Haha In all honesty check to see if you can update it with the newest firmware given from sony in the support mode on your PS3
Edit: Thread moved from the Playstation General section
