I was trying to play COD black ops 2 but my ps3 wasnt reading the disc , it read it but didnt show the disc icon need help

Do other games play okay?  If not, try putting in a dvd and playing it.  If the dvd works but not the games, I would guess to say that your blu laser might be shot.  If it is and you are not under warranty, the laser is simple enough to replace.  I just replaced mine 2 days ago because it would not read games or blu ray dvds anymore. Sorry to hear about your troubles.

How do you know it read the disc if the game icon didn't appear?

Did you try cleaning the disc?

Can I replce the laser myself or do I have to send it in? It freezes whenever I try to play a game or watch a blu-ray movie, but not when I put in a regular DVD so I guess I have the same problem as you.

You can replace it yourself but I would start by googling ps3 repair in your area.It should be around 60-80 to repair it.
