I have a PS3 slim model and have no problems out of until about a week ago. I was playing Assassins Creed 3 and it froze on me. Thought no big deal held the power button down to shut it down and tried again. Same thing happened again. Tried it on my other fat PS3 model and no issues. Deleted the game data and tried again, same issue. I tried a different game to see if it was just AC3 and it freezes on any game that i try to play. So i formatted the drive and tried again with the same results. I then put in a new drive and started over and got the same problem again. I really don't know what else to do or try. Any help is appreciated.

Did you try Safe Mode?

i wouldn't think safe mode would do anything different than me putting a new drive in the system and starting completely over....

I am not saying i wouldn't try it. Just asking how safe mode would be different from a new hard drive and install? no need for sarcasm.

tried every option in safe mode and still the same issue. Only thing i know now to do is send it in to Sony to have repaired. My first system got the YLOD and now this system is doing this. Both lasted only about 2 years each. This one is having the freezing problem. This is pretty ridiculous. I am the type of person that takes very good care of my property so its not from abuse. May have to give Xbox a look when next gen comes out. i have been with sony since PS1 days but i had to buy a couple ps1's and had to buy 2 or 3 ps2's and now this with the ps3. very frustrated. Just wanted to give some information to where i was at with my problem. Thanks for anyone who read my post and offered any help.

Have you recently installed the 4.30/4.31 update? I have the same problem as you and i have read that a lot of people got this problem when they updated their ps3. I know i did. The only solution i think, is to wait for sony to come up with a fix.
