I have Lynksys and have the same issue while attempting to update my Playstation store software. I have also done all the normal trouble shooting without success. I have had this issue for about a week now.

my modem is an SMCD3G-CCR and a Type 2 NAT.
some people have said they've been having problems for about the last week - I'm curious what others have been seeing - Im not really a good judge as I hadn't turned my PS3 on for several months.

First thing you should do is disable the firewall in the router.
You can also try putting the ip of the playstation in DMZ mode. The ip may change once in awhile so you may have to change it again later. Just check on it once in awhile.

I am noticing multiple people having this problem. A lot of them seem to be in the Chicago land area. If I bought a T.V. and it said you can watch it but you have to keep your doors unlocked while you do it (firewall down) I would be **bleep**. I will say it again. I feel like it has something to do with PS4 or something. This should not just happen all of a sudden.

Yesterday I hooked the PS3 and a PC to a hub (not a switch) and started the packet captures. The update ran for about 45min and only got to 45% before I called it quits (wife was not happy I was doing this on valentines day apparently). I did a traceroute to the dns name of the server in the pcaps and found it only to be maybe 5 or 6 hops away and the longest ping time was 14.8ms.
So I hooked back up to my wifi and tried again and it timed out right away.
After that I had found a post on portforward.com that had some instructions on how to login to my modem (this morning i see the manual was posted in this thread by ToeTag - thank you!) adn I made some changes, but didn't have time to test them yet - tonight hopefully.
I will try to go through the pcaps today and let you know what I find (if anything since it seemed that it was working - slowly, but working).
