I have a CECHA01 that I got from my brother, it unfortunately sat in a garage for a while until I grabbed it. It's fine playing Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, but if I try to put Skyrim in, it'll start on the video and then freeze on me. I really want to play but I'm not sure what to do. I tried removing everything that my brother left on the machine, and have about 30 GB free, but I'm not sure how to check how much memory there is available so it will run Skyrim. Anyone have any suggestions?

It has the most recent patches available for both the PS3 and Skyrim (not the 1.6 that isn't out yet, but 1.5)

If the console has sat in a garage, most likely there would be a buildup of dust. Try to remove the dust via vacuum from the side vents. Dust could lead the console to having freezing issues.

I tried that and still nope I got this time into the intro's conversation to give an idea what was going on, and started getting control instructions and then it froze again. What happens is the video freezes and the background music continues on. So I'm not sure what's going on. Again, this is so far only on Skyrim, not on Oblivion. I haven't tried other games I have yet, almost afraid to.

Maybe you should try deleting the update data and the game instal data. I have done that and it helped. I will never forget the first time I played skyrim; it immediatly froze before the begining sequence with the dragon, lol.

But later on I encountered more freezing and glitches, and deleting the game instal data and update data helped. All you have to do after that is play the game, and wait for it to install on your ps3. (and get the updates)

Try that, and good luck!

ALSO- make sure the disc is free of fingerprints and scratches.

I went to update Skyrim patch 1.06/1.6 and it downloaded ok, but when I went to let it install it froze at 27% - I did read where other deleted the game info and uninstalled the game and reinstall..well I did all that and its still freezeing or stopping at 27% - I even did a major horrid thing of deleting EVERYTHING and setting it back to all new system ..Nothing on it.. and it downloaded ok again but still froze up and stopped at 27% I waited over an hour and NADA... frustrated..waiting to hear back from Bathesda about it..

If anyone has any advice please I am open for opinions!
