Your not experiencing the same issue other people have, but you might just play it safe for a day or two until we know more.
What 4.45 does is updates the software then when you turn you restart your PS3 you get the ribbon and the PS3 logo, but it never brings up the XMB bar or user menu.
i agree, there are a smaller amount of people with this issue, however, like i have stated before, i will be able to restore my ps3 to operating conditions with the new update (when it comes out) just worried about my data is all... the 120gb hdd is prolly been in storage for like 2-ish, mebbe 3-ish years? can't remember. I know it took me a long while to upgrade my HDD on my slim because i wanted to reclaim data on my hdd from my fatty that got YLOD... all in all, bummer for me and anyone else who has this issue too

Quote's not working for me either. May be an issue with your browser (I'm using firefox). I also can't double space my lines of text or separate paragraphs.
I am using Firefox too.

No problem. I can do this the old fashioned way.
@Niwashi thanks for the explanation. That helps satisfy the curiosity and provide understanding.
if you use quick reply, you won't have the options of quoting, it will just be a small box, hit reply, that should have spell check and quote on top right corner of box, along with html and preview of your post!

Hopefully we don't have to reformat the HDD when the fix rolls around. It's my media center.
I am with you on this one... when my fatty YLOD and i sent it in, i lost ALL my movies i downloaded (paid for) and all the saves too, so... bleh, lets hope for the best! Go Sony Go!

I experienced the same problem last night after updating. I initially thought my HD had gone south but after troubleshooting and reading on some forums I found out it was related to the update. My solution is not ideal for most players who do not have their save files backed up. I was able to boot my PS3 into safe mode using the following instructions at https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/det
