They fixed the Multiplayer Matchmaking...Now they have to.find the problem for ps3's shuting off on their own while in a game...

Its the graphic card. Its out of date and causes the ps3 to overheat and turn off.

treyarch has to aknowledge it as a problem first. the thing is they can just say its a problem with your ps3 not black ops 2. so is fat ps3 owners are stuck without black ops for probably a week or two

So, For everyone with the fat PS3, this will happen when playing COD BO2. If you try and play other games, it will work perfectly fine, so it isnt the PS3 that is broken. I talked to a representative of PSN and they said even though it only happens with this one game, it is still a problem with the PS3. Also, that if you send it in, you can get a refurbished 160 GB Slim for $129. But i advise that u be prepared to return the game, get your 60 dollars back and buy it again if they fix it.

yes dont keep trying to make it work either it will burn the fan out. and mess up the blu ray drive

I have the old 80 gig backwwards compatable ps3.. used to be able to play MW3 with no issues... and here within the past week or so, MW3 and the new Black Ops 2 will both totally shut down my ps3.  I checked and it isnt really over heating. I can play harder games on it for hours with no shut down.. BF3...  Skyrim.. and it does fine.  BO2 is the one thats really pissing me off.  Good thing I have a backup 500gb PS3 super slim to play on in the meantime.....

I think its a software compatability issue... my ps3 does not seem to get hot.. ive even ran a fan on it and it doesnt help a bit. Its got to be something with the graphics card and compatability.. and I dont think any of us FAT users should have to pay for a different system or anything. Its not broken if it plays other games JUST FINE with no over heating issues.

This is all over the Activision forum.  It is a problem with the original PS3 system (FAT) and it does not appear to be thermal.  The system just shuts down 3-5 minutes into game play.  I fired it up cold on a tile floor in a room that was about 60 degrees and within 3-5 minutes shut down. Put MW2 in and no problem.  This is somethinb between the DVD drive and the memory.  And I dont see either party doing anything since we are a dying breed.  They would just assume that the org PS3 with backward compatibility to PS2 games goes away for ever.  Note the following:

System updates complete

All games/video streaming work fine

Load COD BO2 system shuts down 3-5 minutes of game play.  It is repteatable and predicitable 100% of the time.

Doesnt matter if it is online, multi player, campagn, or zombies (off line)

Same disk given to friend with streamline PS3 and works fine

Retailer refuses to take the disk back due to the open package policy.  Well at least Sony got some residual license fee on my useless purchase.

I have a 120 GB slim and its shutting off as soon as I go to boot the disc.

I returned another disc that would turn off after the intro video.

I formatted my PS3 and still no luck.

Black Ops 1 and NFL 2012 work fine but this game is a joke.

Sony is at fualt as much as Activision/Treyarch for allowing a bad game designed for thier system.
