I might be slow witted ... it is done so often it must certainly be for some excellent reason .... I'm even starting to see this occasionally done even on tv .... that static or scratched line black and white blurred type of cutscene ... even when it's not a 'memory' .... it might be things occurring at the same time somewhere else in the game .... Younger players wouldn't even remember old home movies so why even use it ? It really doesn't even mimic that so much as a faux electronic problem with the game .... There must from time to time be a game creator or two who reads this stuff ... could you possibly explain what is this favoritism for the 'Siren' 'sightjack' type of cutscene in so many videogames ?

Hmm...seems to me this was moved from another forum, as I saw it earlier but it was now marked as unread. I think a mod may have misunderstood the post
. Not that I really blame them. I think I get what you're saying, but are there specific examples you can refer to? I don't feel like I've seen this overused, so maybe it's just the games you're playing.

Hard to remember them offhand but off the top of my head I recall house of the dead 3 where he talks to his sick son, devil may cry 2, Siren (not just the sightjack parts) some of the Resident evils, I believe Silent hill but can't remember which one .... I mean you'll see them so often it's not really a matter of trying to remember certain ones, as it occurs even in PS3 .... Just that scratch lined noisy 'old 8 mm film' look ....
