keep on trying to update goes to 99% stops then says error

8002F310: Unable to Update

[PS3™ system] Updated 06/20/2012

• Turn off and unplug the power from the PS3 and wait 10 seconds before powering back on.
• Turn on the PS3 and try to update the system again.
• If you still have problems, you will have to send your system in for service.

This is what the knowledge center provides for that error code.  Does not look good. Sorry.

Don't do that I literally just had that problem a week ago and I managed to fix it. What I did was turn my ps3 on and immediately pulled out the hard drive before anything at all started and it took me to this weird screen with random letters on it. I pressed the ps button on my controller and the ps3 ended up restarting, when it did it took me to a screen telling me to plug in my controller and press the ps button, I did that and I could choose to restart or update through a flashdrive. So I downloaded the update onto a flashdrive, put it into the ps3, selected that option and you have to press start and select at the same time for it to start. Also, on your flash drive, put the update into a folder called UPDATE and put that folder into a folder called PS3 or else it won't find it. Good luck and I hope this helps!
