Re: PS3 60GB Thermal paste Re- Application

Great Post, and ty for the pictures and sharing your experience.

When I re-did my thermal paste, it look almost exactly like that.

I'm very glad I did the same procedure. my 60gb fans kick in far less then they use to and hopefully (keeping fingers crossed) I can avoid ylod (or at least delay it).

Re: PS3 60GB Thermal paste Re- Application

I'm kicking myself in the butt for not replacing the thermo paste in my 60Gb PS3 when I took it apart to clean it out of dust... because about a month later my PS3 got the YLOD on May 14th 2009 ...

Thanks dude,

And hats off to you also!

Yes, I hope we have delayed the YLOD?

Like I said the original thermal paste was crusty and hardly any was applied. I'm pretty sure

there was alot less heat transfer going to the heat sinks because of this?

The Artice Silver 5 seems like a really good thermal paste. Hopefully, it is much better than the

original?  And the fact we were all careful and took our time to apply it just right, not some assembly line job

if you know what I mean?

Right now my PS3 is still running quiet,in fact it seems to be running quieter if thats possible? To the point I have to go

right up to my PS3 to hear the fan idling in low speed.

And it could be me again? But it seems my PS3 after game play and switching back and scrolling through the XMB seems

more responsive,less delay?

Anyways good luck to you and your PS3 !

Aloha,

HD

Re: PS3 60GB Thermal paste Re- Application

you shouldve used Tuniq TX-2 or TX-3 those are the best thermal paste in market and cheaper than stupid Artic Silver 5 and isnt conductive neither... now you know

Re: PS3 60GB Thermal paste Re- Application

HD I sent mine off to Sony eh, didn't have to pay took 8 days not 20 got my refurb... **bleep**ing **bleep**! fan kicked in after 5 mins on BFBC2... and scratches allllll over it and I mean all over it's like the last person who owned it used to kick it. Their shouldn't be anything wrong with it but I might take it apart and look at the paste, dunno where to get paste though becasue you guys just go to whereever, over here in Australia i'd have no idea where to go XD my refurb has only been on twice in it's new life of being with someone who'll love it, and I hate him, I got a feeling if I turn it back on my BFBC2 wll be stuck in there. Oh well not much I can do.
